Featuring Professor G. Dodd Galbreath
Professor Galbreath has served in various leadership roles in environmental, public, business, and academic positions for the past 34 years. In 2007, he became the founding director of the Institute for Sustainable Practice, the Southeast's first comprehensive academic sustainability program. Professor Galbreath has been appointed to leadership roles by three mayors of Nashville and currently serves as Vice Chair of Nashville's Stormwater Management Committee and Chair of the Livable Nashville Climate and Energy Subcommittee. Professor Galbreath has traveled throughout the United States, China, and six European countries studying urban sustainability, water and energy practices. He provides consulting services and facilitates issue discussion forums for advocacy organizations. From 1993-2002 he served two Tennessee governors of both parties as a state environmental policy manager. In this capacity, he led passage of six state laws regulating water diversion and groundwater use, protecting scenic rivers, and restoring wetlands. He also co-chaired one of the nation's first state environmental justice planning initiatives. He has received two statewide awards for conservation and sustainability leadership.
